In a press statement, the Committee opined that the road should be handed over to BRO under the Pradhan Mantri Gramodaya Yojana (PMGY).
It said that the Committee would oppose any effort to bring in construction agencies other than the BRO.

ITANAGAR, Oct 26: In the last few months crime graph have suddenly risen in the state.

Over the years, state has witnessed systematic rise in the crime graph and many attribute weak legal justice system as root cause for this.
This journalist spoke to many police officers, lawyers, citizens and judges who privately shared their views. Police tends to blame politicians and lawyers for failing to support them in their fight against criminals.
“Politicians cutting across political parties are all same. They are coward who don’t have the guts to take on criminals. Moment we arrest any criminals they start calling us and interfere in our work,” shared a senior police officer, who was once posted as SP capital.
He continued, “While chasing the criminals if we injure them in encounter, politicians start getting worried and vanish from the scene. Many a times we are forced to treat such injured criminals in hospitals from our own pocket. Top of that, the family members of accused often starts targeting us. If the system does not support us, how can society expect us to wipe out the criminals?”

On their part, the lawyer fraternities blame faulty selection procedure of public prosecutor for such lapses.
“In our state even legal justice system is controlled by the politicians. Public prosecutors (PP) are politically appointed. They don’t count experience while selecting the government advocate. How can we expect these political chamchas with no proper experience to give their heart and soul for the criminal cases,” said a senior lawyer.

While the people holding responsible positions may continue to argue over the reasons for the rise in crime, the ordinary citizens feel that Arunachal police as a whole has miserable failed them.
“In our state majority of criminal cases never get registered. The moment victim approaches the police, they tries hard to discourage them from filing FIR and instead suggest for compromising the case. Naturally criminals get encouraged by such action and victim loses the will to fight,” shared Tarh Eha, a resident of Naharlagun.

PASIGHAT, Oct 26: Health Minister Kalikho Pul and Education Minister Tapang Taloh held a meeting with Medical Officers of General Hospital Pasighat yesterday after the inaugural function of the GNM School at Pasighat.
Speaking on the occasion, local MLA Kaling Moyong appealed to the visiting Health Minister to establish a Medical College at Pasighat. He assured to provide Rs five lakh from his MLALAD fund for infrastructure development of the hospital.
MP Ninong Ering also sanctioned Rs. 10 lacs on the spot for infrastructure development of the hospital and assured to provide land for the proposed medical college free of cost.

He also served as Gram Panchayat Member (GPM) and then as Anchal Samity Member (ASM) and fought against social evils, like child and forced marriages, witchcraft, etc, which were widely prevalent in Nyishi community in those days.
“His demise is an irreparable loss not only to the family members but also the entire community,”said Nyishi Elite Society (NES) in a release while recalling his immense contribution to the community,

Student found dead at Pasighat

Pasighat, Oct 26: The body of Lalmuankima Chiawngthu, a 4th year student of College of Horticulture & Forestry, Pasighat has been found near Komlighat today.
SI Nani Nama, I/O, informed that a case has been registered at Pasighat PS and investigation launched.
As per initial police report, there are injury marks on the body of the deceased. A bicycle and a cell phone have been recovered from the spot. The post mortem report is awaited and samples have also been sent to Kahilipara, Guwahati for forensic examination.
The body has been sent back to Mizoram this evening, from where the student hailed.

The assurance was given to the Society in a meeting with the Deputy Commissioner, BRTF authority and concern HOD, SSSWS said in a release.
The affected villagers are alleging that the survey of the acquisitioned land for compensation was not conducted properly and in compliance with Land Acquisition Act. Further, no public hearing was held before the acquisition was done.
The society also informed that the Deputy Commissioner has assured to pursue with the government regarding construction of the Polytechnic College at the site proposed by the society for which the society is offering land free of cost.

ITANAGAR, Oct 26: One day training for progressive farmers on Apiculture Development organized by the Papum Pare chapter of Arunachal Bee and Honey Mission under Department of Agriculture was held at Balijan on October 24.
Inaugurating the training, ADC Chukhu Takar suggested the progressive farmers to take benefits of the training.

ASHAs trained on malaria prevention and control
ITANAGAR, Oct 26: Itanagar Diocesan Empowerment Association (IDEA) and Caritas India in collaboration with District Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (DVBDCP) Papum Pare trained 14 Accredited Health Activists (ASHAs) on malaria prevention and control in a training programme conducted at Tarasso PHC on October 24 and 25.
The training aimed at building capacity of ASHAs in early diagnosis and treatment of all malaria cases and reducing morbidity and mortality.
The chief resource persons of the training were Techi Pekhi Tara, Consultant of DVBDCP and Millo Alla, Laboratory Technician, PHC Tarasso.
IDEA in partnership with Caritas India (NGO) has been supporting DVBDCP in terms of organizing training for the ASHAs in whole Papum Pare district.
All together, 188 ASHAs from various PHCs and CHCs, including Balijan, Doimukh, Chimpu, Basarnallo, Jote, Kimin, Sagalee, Leporinag and Mengio and Tarassso were trained, an IDEA release informed.
ASHAs have tremendous role in sensitizing the community for adopting effective preventive measures like use of bed nets and indoor residual spray (IRS), the release said.

The social service conducted under Swachch Bharat Abhinyan covered all the five constituencies in the district Taliha, Nacho, Siyum, Lemeking and Daporijo.
To create awareness on cleanliness, the Department also organized rallies involving students, general public and government staff carrying placards and banners reading health and hygiene related slogans.
The importance of maintaining high degree of health and sanitation practices including tips of hand washing were also taught to the participants during the awareness campaign that were conducted in the sideline of each social service.
Earlier, cleanliness drives were conducted at Tikre and Pakam colonies by colony welfare committee.

Woes of a Circle
Dear Editor,
Through your esteemed daily, I would like to highlight the problems and hardships of people of my village, Dollungmukh under Lower Subansiri district.
Dollungmukh circle comprises of four Gram Panchayat Segments and spreads over 11 villages approximately and stretches all over the right bank of Subansiri River where the 2000MW Hydro Electric Power Project is set up and in progress to be commissioned.
It is to bring to the notice that Dollungmukh is deprived of power and water supply. Numerous problems and hardships arise due to nonexistent state of Power and Water supply. There is no power or electricity in Dollungmukh since last 2 years and more. Electricity is very basic to a developed area. What to say of smart classes! Students who want to devote their times in studies cannot do it because of no electricity. Poor people cannot afford those costly solar lamps, candles or burning oils.
In such a state, a basic standard of life cannot be maintained and would not be possible for an outsider or any govt staff to stay there for discharging their duty. Hence may be some of them prefer to stay back at Assam. No electricity, no recreation, after the daylong household and field works, villagers don’t have other options but to go for drinks and be merry at the risk of their health. Hospitals need 24 hrs of Electricity but Dollungmukh is totally dark. There are mobile phones but no electricity.
Yet another major problem in Dollungmukh is Water Supply. There is no water supply, wells are the last resort but innocent people don’t know that these are the carrier to all those water borne diseases. Dollungmukh is malarial endemic region. There is no potable water, wells dry up in winter, and in summer people are afflicted with numerous kinds of diseases.
I have never seen any villages having so much of potable water scarcity like Dollungmukh.
In today’s age no one would like to stay at such places where basic facilities like water and electricity are not provided.
Govt officers and officials could not stay at Dollungmukh because of various reasons. Water and electricity is the main reason I suppose. Who is responsible and who is answerable?

Tourism, a sole money spinner
Dear Editor,
After incongruous Hydropower scenario, Tourism seems to be sole money generator for
the people as well as government of Arunachal. I would like to draw the attention
of State Government and Tourism Department in particular that some basic homework
has to be done before pledging big-
I am a frequent traveller across the state and whenever I undertook travelling from
my home town Aalo to some other places, the first thing that pain me is non-
I peeped and tried almost every line hotel in the quest for fresh and well cooked food but it’s appalling that I sometimes suffered food poisoning.
For the sake of filling starved stomach, the passengers scoff whatever is served on a plate without questioning its freshness. Possibilities of causing Contagious endemic diseases cannot be ruled out if potable water provided by these line hotels is consumed while having food. So, now a day’s anyhow, people reach Subansiri in Assam to fill their hunger and quench their thirst with varieties and better quality food.
This is the veracity of woeful things not only happening along my district but all the places in our state. Just imagine, what would be the impression of the tourists visiting our state as it is said that “first impression is the last impression”.
Whenever a visitor entering into our state, what welcomes them at the sight are roads in shamble and drain conditions, potholes, somehow erected check post balancing with swathed stones, untidy and foul odour emanating from urinals.
As we know that government alone cannot do everything, contribution of public too is necessary for creation of tourist congenial environment in our Arunachal. Government should sum up comprehensive principles like cleanliness; impart training and awareness campaign at the specific locations and spots where it needs the most.
Local administration and leaders must be equipped with prerogative powers to check and maintain the decorum and every hotel should be strictly instructed to have clean and hygienic eatables and toilets for the passengers.

are worthy of appreciation rather than criticism. There is no denying the fact that

Let us not react as if transfer/posting of government employee is a crime. It is the prerogative of the Govt. to exercise transfer and posting of its employees after ascertaining the position or requirement. Evidently, the measures taken by the concerned Minister are aimed at controlling the decay in this sector. The wisdom of the Government deserves support from all quarters in the larger interest of the students who are future of the society.
It would send a wrong message if the Govt. fails to deliver justice to the needy students. In any case, the grievances of the students in remote areas should be accorded the topmost priority.

Joy of bursting crackers and child labour
Dear Editor,
During the Diwali season, lots of articles, editorials and letters appear on different news papers protesting against the crackers which not only give rise to air and sound pollution; but also inflict terrible pain upon the eardrums and hearts of vulnerable babies, senior citizens and patients.
These protests against the perverseness in the name of that Indian "holy cow" named religion are extremely praiseworthy, but rarely do we view the menace from another angle.
Apart from the much talked-
To eradicate the dreaded policy of apartheid, the world did not wage a war with arms against South Africa. Instead the international community merely boycotted from the country from every affairs. Along with the struggle of Nelson Mandela, the tactics of boycott also played a great role in putting an end to the apartheid regime. Similarly, the inhuman fire cracker industry can also be taught a lesson if we refuse to get lured by the "joy" of bursting crackers and instead learn to boycott it.
